And they look pretty good too!
The SM5's interior looks like a pretty nice place to be.
I would genuinely like it if Samsung sold cars in NA, currently they mostly sell cars in South Korea and really South Korea only. Wikipedia says they have sold a few cars in smaller markets, like Chile, but they really don’t export their cars that much. Shame, because Hyundai/Kia could use a bit of competition, and Samsung could easily ride off their reputation for decent electronics.
They have other models too, like the SM3 compact car (Competes with cars like the Elantra/Avante, Forte/K3)
The SM6 fullsizer (K7/Cadenza, Azera/Grandeur competitor), I believe it’s the replacement for the old SM7.
QM3 (Rebadged Renault Captur, which is on the same platform as the Juke.)
QM5 (This one’s a bit ugly, we can do without this one, thanks.)
I think if they gave it a shot, they’d sell quite a few cars in North America. Their Chilean efforts weren’t exactly successful, but that’s most likely because Chile for the most part got similar cars as Renaults.

You can buy Samsung badged cars but to say they’re made by Samsung is pushing it a bit nowadays - the car company is mainly owned by Renault. I could buy the SM3 as a Renault Fluence if the urge took me.

I doubt Nissan would let that happen since much of Samsung lineup would compete against theirs.

Samsung/Renault builds the Rogue for the US market. If you see a 14+ Rogue with a VIN that begins with K, it’s built at the Samsung/Renault factory in Busan, South Korea. I think Nissan/Renault wants to focus just on selling Nissans here in the US, maybe with the exception of the Alpine. We may see a NISMO Alpine some day. How does that make you feel?

Hasn’t that been the case always? I think at first they mainly rebadged Nissans now most of their lineup is Renaults.

ALL Samsung cars are rebadged Renaults. The QM5 is a Koleos, the QM3 is a Captur, the SM6 is a Talisman, the SM3 is a Fluence and the SM5 is a Latitude. Samsung doesn’t design any car or engine

I never said they made the cars. I only said they sold the cars.

Yeah, it’s the way Renault found to reach the South Korean market, just like GM does with Opel by selling their cars rebadged as a Buick in North America and China

I am from Chile and their SM3 had been nothing but a sales success, old people love them because it has proven nissan reliability and it has a “classic” design, they are also used as cabs, SM5 and SM7 have sold less but they are also mostly taxi’s in airports:
Although the new generation of Samsung cars have been rebadged as Renault and the brand is no longer in the market.

Actually no. the QM5, SM3 and SM6 may share platforms with Renault-Nissan models but are of korean design and later made their way to europe as Renaults.

No to all cases. The Koleos was design by Renault and developed by Nissan. While it was mainly manufactured by Samsung in SK, it’s a French/Japanese product. The SM6/Talisman is full French, hell it’s car responsible for inaugurating the new Renault design, and is being sold in France since last year while it’s production will only start in Busan late this year. The SM3 is a saloon version of the French Megane, also a Renault product.
